Shungites and their amazing qualities are long time known. People of the Russian North are telling stories of miraculously getting healed after drinking water infused on a plain black stone. After becoming aware of the power, hidden inside this remarkable mineral, Tzar Peter the Great has commanded to establish a resort in a vicinity of the shungite deposit in Karelia and grown up to be its regular visitor.

As time went, more helpful qualities of shungites came up. It can be used not only in medicine, but also in industrial production, construction, agriculture and many other areas. Yet, no large-scale research was to follow and the interest to the natural phenomena has faded away for many decades. Quite possibly, it was due to the fact that new deposits of shungite (that took its name from a village nearby to which it was discovered) were found neither in Russia nor in other countries. Only recently a new name appeared on mineral maps – KOKSU SHUNGITE. In the Almaty region huge reserves of this uncommon mineral were discovered. Koksu Mining Company has started commercial production and processing of the raw material, and soon “Made in Kazakhstan” brand – TAURITE – will be on the markets.

At the heart of the mineral there is the derated carbon that after billions of years became neither coal, nor graphite nor diamond. Apart from carbon, unique properties of shungite rely upon macro elements, such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and micro elements – vanadium, cobalt, copper, zinc, rare-earth elements that also compose the mineral.
